Hosted SMS

Text-enable the number your customers already know

Your business number has years of trust behind it. Hosted SMS adds text messaging to that same number — even a landline — while your voice service stays untouched with your current provider. No porting, no disruptions, just texts.

Same number, whole new channel

Customers text the number on your storefront, your invoices, your website — and it actually answers. Appointment confirmations, order updates, quick questions: handled on the number they already trust, with zero disruption to your phone service.

Familiarity is a deliverability feature

A recognized local number gets answered. Text-enabling your established number pairs that recognition with a fully registered 10DLC campaign — Tychron manages the letter of authorization, the enablement, and the compliance side end to end.

MMS included, when you want more

Hosted numbers carry more than plain text. Use MMS to send images, video, and group messages from the same familiar number — your mobile engagement grows without your number ever changing.

Hosted SMS questions, answered

What is hosted SMS?

Hosted SMS is a service that adds text messaging to a phone number whose voice service lives somewhere else. The number stays with your current carrier for calls; Tychron becomes the messaging carrier behind it, so the same number can send and receive SMS and MMS at business scale. It is how a landline, VoIP line, or long-held business number starts texting without changing anything about how it rings.

What's the difference between hosted SMS and porting my number?

Porting moves your whole number — voice and all — to a new carrier. Hosted SMS moves only the messaging side. If you're happy with your voice provider and just need the number to text, hosting is the lighter path: nothing about your calls changes, and there is no porting window to plan around. Most Tychron customers choose messaging-only for exactly that reason.

How much does a hosted SMS service cost?

Hosted SMS is priced per account and always stated in your quote up front — no hidden fees, and industry pass-through fees are billed at cost as carriers set them. Dynamic message queuing is included free on every account.

Does Hosted SMS change my phone service?

No. Your voice service stays exactly where it is, with your current provider — no porting, no downtime, no new number. Hosted SMS routes only the messaging side of your number to Tychron, so calls keep working the way they always have while texts start flowing.

What kinds of numbers can be text-enabled?

Most local 10-digit business numbers — including landline and VoIP numbers that have never sent a text in their life. If customers already know the number, that familiarity now works for your messaging too.

What do you need from me to set it up?

Proof you control the number — a signed letter of authorization (LOA) — plus your 10DLC campaign details, since text-enabled business numbers need registered campaigns like any other A2P messaging. Tychron handles the enablement and the registration together.

How long does text-enablement take?

Most enablement requests are approved instantly. Depending on the losing carrier, approval can take up to 48 business hours — and any existing messaging keeps flowing until the enablement is confirmed, so there is no gap either way.

Can I send MMS on a hosted number?

Yes — hosted numbers can carry SMS and MMS, so pictures, group threads, and long-form messages all work on the number your customers already save in their contacts.
